Centre Clothes Corner

Centre Clothes Corner is the League’s largest ongoing project. Centre Clothes Corner provides a basic wardrobe of essential clothing to underprivileged children enrolled in schools in the San Fernando Valley. The children are referred to us by school nurses, social workers and principals. Centre Clothes Corner is open Tuesday through Thursday mornings. Our two Coordinators, Robin Warren Siegel and Paulette Gessin, schedule clothing appointments.

Kids on the Block

Kids on the Block

The Kids on the Block is an educational, entertaining puppet show depicting children with disabilities. The program was designed to teach youngsters about disabilities and the people who have them, and to raise their sensitivity and awareness for the disabled. Throughout this presentation children are encouraged to ask the puppets questions about their challenges. They learn how the puppets accommodate their particular disabilities.

Choral Music

The Choral Music project is the longest continually running project of the Volunteer League, performing for seniors for over 40 years. The project’s mission is to bring cheer to those who reside at convalescent, nursing or assisted care facilities and who might not otherwise have the chance to see live musical performances.
