Nancy Hooker Scholarship
Nancy Hooker, a Volunteer League member, was a devoted community volunteer with a passion for music who fostered many students in the field of vocal music. Through this scholarship, Nancy has touched many college students in their endeavors with their music studies in college. The Nancy Hooker Memorial Foundation Scholarship at CSUN has been awarded to 39 worthy recipients over the last 35 years. The year 2022 marks the end of this beautiful tribute to Nancy, donated and created by her family and friends. The Volunteer League thanks everyone involved in all the processes done over the years with the scholarship.
The final recipient was Jeryd Word, a third tenor studying vocal performance and planning to join the music education program. His goal is to receive a graduate degree in voice, join a young artists program, and end his performing career as a professor of voice at a university. He is with the Northridge Singers and is performing opera in many areas.
